In the world where everything changes all the time we are able to create extremely usable software that 'simply works' for years and years.

Information architect is of great importance during a new product development. We use a mix of tools to show how the site will look in terms of number of columns, information chunking, navigation (it could be in different level), graphics/image placement, etc. At times simple text site with navigation in place and page titles to show how the whole structure will work. Is drop down menu required or always open sub navigation can work better. Powerpoint can also be used in similar fashion for linking and checking the flow for a complete project.

Information layout is designed intuitive keeping learning curve to minimum for users. All the design development is done based on fundamentals of design and is constantly tested for usability testing. Our in-house design QA ensures that graphics are modelled according to product needs.

Rapid prototyping is actively used which helps in looking at the flow of complete product. Prototyping includes flow for a particular feature. Can a two column layout work better in place of three column? Can we club information in tabs, chunk them in different parts, expand/collapse as user interact with sites. These are some of the foremost cases which are taken into consideration while rapid prototyping.

Deciding on a design language for a product - based on the customer/user demographic. Our team creates custom icons (they can be realistic, two tone, illustrative, hand drawn, etc.) From here to complete color scheme of the application header, body where all the information is layed out in text, charts, images. All these design elements are unified with a constant thought of what a product is communicating.

Collaboration tools for design presentations like Adobe Connect, Microsoft Shareview and www.vyew.com are used by our teams. The feedback cycle is reduced to great amount.

We also keep backups of design layouts in progress to compare how we have evolved from earlier stages of design development. This helps in planning and estimating future product development based on evidence. Also it helps in guiding customers for their products.
